Nickel-plated Diamond

Coating a layer of metal on the surface of diamond can endow diamond with many new characteristics: improving the strength of diamond, the interface bonding ability between diamond and matrix, oxygen barrier protection, reducing the degree of thermal damage of diamond, etc. The metal to be plated is generally nickel, copper, silver, etc. and alloys, and the plating method is generally electroless plating or electroless plating followed by electroplating.

The purpose of nickel-plated thorn diamond is the same as that of ordinary nickel-plated diamond, and both are used in resin-bonded abrasive tools. The difference is that the holding force of nickel-plated thorn diamond in resin bond is much greater than that of ordinary nickel-plated diamond, and the grinding effect is also significantly better than the latter.

Product classification

Nickel-plated thorn diamonds were prepared by electroless plating and electroplating in our laboratory. Depending on the plating method and the diamond raw material used, the shape of the nickel thorns is icy and milky. The performance of our products is verified and approved by our customers.

Note: The resin bond diamond tool refers to the bond between the diamond and the matrix in the tool making process, which is based on the resin bond. After the diamond is treated with nickel plating, the bonding strength of the diamond and the matrix can be greatly improved, and the service life of the tool can be enhanced.

Diamond wire saw is a metal bond diamond tool, which was initially prepared by applying non-nickel-plated diamond. Later, with research, it was found that wire saws made with a small amount of metallic nickel plated with better performance, tighter diamond wrapping, and wire saws requiring less nickel plating.

Ⅱ. Application areas

Due to its stable performance, nickel-plated diamond is gradually used in major resin-bonded diamond tool manufacturers. In recent years, the vigorous development of diamond wire saws has also put forward requirements for diamond raw materials. Therefore, the raw material of diamond is gradually developing towards a small amount of nickel metal plating, and the diamond nickel-plated thorn products with a 30% weight gain and regular morphology are more and more widely used.
