Revealing the Applications of Poly Diamond

Poly diamond is a unique material. From a professional perspective, poly diamond not only has hardness and wear resistance close to that of single-crystal diamond, but it also boasts superior anisotropy and impact resistance comparable to hard alloys. This has led to its extensive application in multiple fields.

"Efficient Helper" in Oil and Gas Extraction

In the field of oil and gas extraction, poly diamond is undoubtedly an "efficient helper" that plays a crucial role. Among its applications in this field is the poly diamond compact (PDC) drill bit. The cutting head of the PDC drill bit is made of synthetic diamond, which has ultra-high hardness, wear resistance, and high-temperature resistance.

Its structural design is ingenious: the poly diamond layer, which forms the outermost layer of the cutting head, consists of high-purity synthetic poly diamond and is the main cutting part capable of efficiently breaking rocks; the transition layer, made of metal or ceramic materials, connects the poly diamond layer to the body of the drill bit, providing transition and support; the drill body's main structure is made of high-strength, wear-resistant materials; and the substrate, made of steel or other alloy materials, serves to fix and support the cutting head.

"Extensive Applications" of Poly Diamond in Other Fields

Poly diamond's applications are very broad, showcasing excellent performance in electronic and woodworking fields, among others. In the electronics field, with the continuous development of semiconductor manufacturing technology, the requirements for material processing precision and surface quality are getting higher. Poly diamond plays an important role in semiconductor processing.

For example, in cutting, diamond wire cutting technology uses a fine line or wire coated with diamond particles to rapidly rotate and cut semiconductor materials, achieving ultra-thin cuts, reducing material waste, ensuring cutting surface flatness, and improving production efficiency; diamond circular saw cutting is suitable for thicker semiconductor materials, maintaining high efficiency and stability. In grinding, diamond planar grinding technology is used to deal with the flatness of semiconductor material surfaces, and inner hole grinding technology maintains bore diameter stability and smoothness under high precision requirements.

High-efficiency grinding technology, using techniques like gas jet cooling, effectively reduces heat accumulation during grinding, extending tool life and enhancing processing efficiency. In polishing, diamond polishing discs are used for the polishing of single-crystal and polycrystalline silicon, eliminating surface micro-defects and unevenness, improving the efficiency of silicon wafers.

In the woodworking field, poly diamond tools also display unique advantages. Compared to traditional high-speed steel and hard alloy cutting tools, poly diamond woodworking tools have a longer service life, which can be increased by several tens to hundreds of times. This is due to the high hardness and wear resistance of poly diamond, making it less prone to wear when cutting wood, thereby maintaining a sharp cutting edge for a longer duration.

Additionally, although the initial purchase cost of poly diamond tools might be higher, their long service life reduces the frequency of tool replacement and sharpening, lowering overall long-term costs. Moreover, poly diamond tools have high production efficiency, quickly completing wood cutting processes and improving the productivity of woodworking enterprises. These tools have been widely used in furniture manufacturing and architectural template processing industries, bringing new vitality to these sectors.
